2. Personal data about others that you share with us
When you book tickets on our website for other people traveling with you, or on behalf of other travelers, we collect passenger information about each traveler. It is your responsibility to make sure that each traveler you book tickets for is aware of this and also accepts this Privacy Policy.
3. Personal data that we collect automatically

We may also receive information about you from other sources. These include independent third parties, and anything we get from them may be combined with information you provide to us.
We use third-party service providers to process online payments, and they may share your personal information with us so we can supply our service to you.

We may receive information about you from our advertising partners, which enables us to deliver more relevant advertising. For example, we may target our advertising to particular regions or demographics.
For more information, please refer to the following sections.
V. Why and how we use your personal data
1. Customer service
First and foremost, we use your personal data to issue your tickets and to provide you with customer service, which is the purpose of our company. We provide our customers with service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Sharing details relevant to your booking, such as reservation information, information about your user account, or passenger names, allows our team to respond to you when you need our help.
When you make a reservation or register on our website, we use your name and email address to create a user account, which enables you to manage your bookings, take advantage of special offers, make future bookings, and manage your personal settings.
We may use your email, telephone, or social networks to send you emails, SMS, or messages related to your reservation.
We may send you a reminder about a saved search if you have searched for ferry tickets on our website and used the Save search functionality.
We may also send you other information related to your reservation that we feel could be useful in planning your trip or while traveling, such as port address, check-in times, or boarding instructions.
We may send you important updates about service disruptions, strikes, weather-related cancellations, schedule changes, or security alerts.
2. Marketing activities
We may use your personal information for our marketing activities, including sending news of travel-related products and services relevant to your ticket reservation. You can unsubscribe from these marketing communications quickly, easily, and at any time by clicking the "Unsubscribe" link included in every newsletter.
We may show you individualized offers that we think might interest you on third-party websites and apps (including social media), based on the personal information you provided when you made a reservation or visited our website.
When you participate in other promotional activities (such as sweepstakes, referral programs, or competitions), relevant information will be used to administer these promotions.
From time to time we may ask our customers to take part in market research. We will explain how your personal data will be collected and used when we send you such an invitation.
3. Service reviews
We may ask you to review our services so that we can improve our products and help other travelers make informed choices. When we invite you to leave a review, we will share your name, email address, and booking confirmation with a reputable independent service provider. When you leave a review, it will be published on that provider's website, and that provider will control the personal data related to your review.
4. Fraud prevention
To create a trustworthy environment for you and your fellow travelers, we may use your personal data for the detection and prevention of fraudulent activities. For example, we may ask you to provide proof of identity or proof of your ownership of your debit or credit card.
5. Product development and research
We may use personal data for analytical purposes. This is part of our mission to improve our services and enhance user experience, so we may use the personal data of our users for testing, troubleshooting, and improving the functionality and quality of our online travel services. We usually use only pseudonymized data for such analytical purposes, but in some situations, such as troubleshooting, we may use data of specific users.
6. Call monitoring
When you call our Customer Service team, we may use an automated telephone number detection system to connect your number to your existing reservations, which can save time for both you and our support team. Our team may ask you to undergo authentication to ensure that your personal information is kept confidential.
7. Quality control and training purposes
We may record conversations between our service team and you for quality control and training. We may also use recorded conversations for handling claims and chargeback procedures with merchant service providers. Call records are purged periodically, unless we have a legitimate interest in keeping a recording for longer, for example for fraud investigation or legal purposes.
8. Legal purposes
We may need to use your personal data for legal purposes, such as handling legal disputes, enforcing our Terms and Conditions, complying with law enforcement agencies, and for regulatory investigations and compliance.
VI. How your data is shared with third parties
There may be circumstances when we share your personal data with third parties. First of all, we must share passenger information with ferry operators. This is essential to our service. The information we are required to provide varies from operator to operator and can include your name, contact details, passenger details of you and the people you book tickets for, and vehicle and pet details where applicable. For certain routes, we book tickets through intermediary wholesale suppliers or booking platforms. We pass passenger information to them to fulfill your reservation.
We may use various service providers in the course of our work. When we share your personal data with third-party service providers, we make sure they are bound by confidentiality obligations and are not allowed to use your personal data for any purpose other than as instructed by us.
We may share your data with payment service providers, who process your online payments. In case of a chargeback investigation, we are required to share related personal information. This may be your booking confirmation, your IP address, and any other information requested during the chargeback investigation. We will only share your personal information if it is necessary for the investigation.
We will disclose your personal data to law enforcement agencies when it is required by law. We may also disclose your personal data to legal authorities to defend our rights or the rights of our business partners.
VII. How we use social media
We use social media to promote our services, and to communicate with you.
We maintain social media accounts and communicate news and announcements about our service on those accounts.
We may use social networks to send you messages as part of our customer service work and our commitment to speak to customers through the channels they prefer.
VIII. Safeguarding your personal data
We have established comprehensive, industry-grade procedures to prevent unauthorized access to, and misuse of, the personal data of our users. Our security procedures, and technical and physical restrictions on accessing and using personal data on our servers, ensure that only authorized personnel can access the personal data of our clients and users. We will not sell, purchase, provide, exchange, or in any other manner disclose account or transaction data, or personal information of or about a cardholder to anyone, except its acquirer, Visa/Mastercard corporations, or in response to valid government demands.
1. How does Ferry Ninja treat personal data about children?
Children under 18 years (minors) are not permitted to book our services on their own. At least one of the passengers must be 18 years or older. We reserve the right to deny services booked by minors and to delete any corresponding personal information.
IX. How we use cookies and tracking technologies
1. What are cookies?
A cookie is a small amount of data that is placed in the browser of your computer or on your mobile device. Whenever you use our services, including websites and applications, we may use cookies and other tracking technologies to streamline the work of our services, to analyze traffic, and for advertising purposes. These technologies are set up either by us or by our service partners, such as Google Analytics and Google Ads.
We also use pixel tags, which are tiny graphic images of just one pixel that can be delivered to your computer as part of a web page, in an advertisement, or in an HTML email message. Pixel tags help us understand user behavior, email open statistics, and which websites send traffic to us. They also help us work with cookies, to serve and read them in your browser.
We also use tracking URLs to understand which websites, advertising channels, and campaigns are bringing us traffic.
All these technologies are usually referred to as "cookies." The information we collect using cookies is anonymous and not personally identifiable. It does not contain your name, address, telephone number, or email address.
Examples of how we use cookies to improve our service and your user experience:
- enabling a service to recognize your device so you don't have to give the same information several times during one task;
- recognizing that you may already have given a username and password so you don't need to do it for every web page requested;
- measuring how many people are using our services, so our customer service team is prepared to assist customers.
We use four types of cookies. Most internet browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can edit your browser settings to stop accepting cookies or to prompt you before accepting a cookie from the sites you visit. Use your browser's "Help" section for details on managing these settings, but be advised that if you decide not to accept our cookies, some features of our site may not be available. Where required by law, we ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
2. Analytics cookies
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use our website: for instance, which pages visitors go to most often, which pages they used to enter our website and which were the exit pages, which emails have been opened, and which links in emails have been clicked. This helps us understand which pages are relevant to users and improve our websites and user experience. It also helps us understand the efficiency of advertising and communication.
3. Functionality cookies
Functionality cookies make our website more useful for end users. You can select language or currency preferences once, and functionality cookies will record them so you don't have to choose each time you return to the website.
4. Usability cookies
Usability cookies help us improve your user experience by using third-party features such as maps and videos.
5. Retargeting cookies
Retargeting cookies enable us to show you advertising messages that are relevant to you. For example, if you searched our website for ferry tickets from Athens to Santorini, we may show you advertising for ferries on that route.
X. Partners we work with and how your data is used
To provide you with the best experience when browsing and booking ferry tickets on Ferry Ninja, we work with a number of trusted third-party service providers. These partners help us understand how our website is used, improve performance, offer support, and show relevant ads.
Some of these tools collect limited information about your interaction with our site, such as pages you visit, your device type, or whether you completed a booking, often in anonymized form. Others, like our support chat, may collect information you choose to share (for example, your name or email).
Below is a list of the third-party tools we currently use, what kind of data they may access, and why we have integrated them into the Ferry Ninja platform.
| Our Partner | What Data Is Collected & Shared | Why We Use It |
|---|---|---|
| Google Tag Manager (GTM) | Doesn't collect personal data directly. GTM loads and manages other tracking scripts | We use GTM to efficiently manage and deploy third-party tools (like analytics or ads) across our website without modifying the code every time |
| Google Analytics 4 (GA4) | Anonymized insights like visited pages, session duration, location, and device type | We use GA4 to understand how travelers interact with our website so we can improve content, features, and the overall booking process |
| Google Ads | Information about ad clicks, purchases, and interactions | We use Google Ads to measure the effectiveness of our ads and show relevant travel offers to users searching for ferry routes |
| Microsoft Bing Ads | Tracks clicks, conversions, and user flow from Bing searches | This tool helps us reach users who search for ferry routes via Microsoft platforms and measure the outcome of those visits |
| VWO (Visual Website Optimizer) | Tracks user interactions with the website, stores heatmaps, and anonymized session recordings | We rely on VWO to experiment with layouts and content so we can discover which designs make it easier and more intuitive for you to complete your booking |
| CookieFirst CMP | Stores your cookie consent settings | This tool ensures we follow your privacy choices and comply with cookie laws like the GDPR |
| Salesforce | Customer contact details, booking and support history, and communication preferences | We use Salesforce as our customer relationship management (CRM) system to manage bookings and support requests, and to send you service and marketing communications that you have not opted out of |
